Shrink Wrap
Also known as: stretch wrap, plastic wrap
Definition
Shrink wrap is the clear plastic film applied around furniture or other items during a move — protecting against dust, scratches, and light moisture. Used alongside pad-wrap, not instead of it.
In practice
What it means on a move.
Shrink wrap is applied around larger furniture pieces (sectionals, mattresses, dressers) and bundled into pad-wrapped items to keep pads in place during transport. Heavy-duty industrial shrink wrap (mil thickness above standard household) protects against most light damage.
Stakes
Why this matters.
Shrink wrap is a cost-effective additional layer of protection. Some movers skip it to save costs; quality movers use it on every move.
Our process
How Muscleman Elite handles it.
Muscleman Elite uses commercial-grade shrink wrap on every move. Standard for sofas, sectionals, mattresses, and items that benefit from the additional layer.
Questions we get
About Shrink Wrap.
- Is shrink wrap enough on its own?
- No — shrink wrap is a supplement to pad-wrap, not a replacement. Pad-wrap handles impact protection; shrink wrap handles dust and moisture. Together they're effective; alone, each is incomplete.
