For Texas intrastate moves, the carrier's tariff dictates the window — typically 90 days, sometimes shorter. **Claims must be filed in writing**, not just verbally noted at delivery. The Bill of Lading and inventory sheet at delivery are the foundation: any damaged or missing items should be noted as 'exceptions' on the inventory sheet at delivery.

Customers who discover damage weeks after delivery often assume they can call the mover whenever. But by the time they call, the deadline may be approaching or past. Damage claims are formal legal processes — the deadline is hard.
