Definition
Sirva is a global Relocation Management Company headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, handling corporate transferee moves, international assignments, and group-move programs for major employers.
In practice
What it means on a move.
Sirva manages relocation files for a broad mix of Fortune 500, federal-government, and military clients. The household-goods leg follows the same cadence as other major RMCs — authorization, carrier selection from Sirva's approved list, origin inspection, written estimate matching the corporate tariff, COI naming Sirva and the employer as additional insured, Full Value Protection, in-transit reporting, destination inspection, claims review, post-move cost reconciliation. Sirva owns and operates several van lines, which affects how its carrier-selection process works — for many transferee moves, Sirva will route the move through a captive-fleet carrier; for others, particularly in markets where it has agent agreements, Sirva books independent carriers. Permian Basin corporate-relo files often run through Sirva.
Stakes
Why this matters.
Recognizing Sirva on transferee paperwork tells the employee the move will run on a structured corporate-relo lane with the same documentation and protection guarantees as the other major RMCs. Performance metrics determine carrier retention, so any mover on the Sirva approved list maintains rigorous on-time and claims discipline. For employees coming into Midland on Diamondback, ExxonMobil, Civitas, or other Permian operator transferee files, a Sirva authorization is a routine signal that the move will be fully managed and fully paid.
Our process
How Muscleman Elite handles it.
Muscleman Elite handles Sirva-authorized moves on Texas-origin and Texas-destination corporate-relo files. We file COIs naming Sirva and the employer as additional insured 24-48 hours ahead, run Full Value Protection at the corporate standard, support origin and destination inspections, and submit post-move cost reconciliation. Permian Basin corporate-relo lane — Diamondback, ExxonMobil, Civitas/SM, Coterra, Permian Resources — is a routine part of our long-distance work.
Questions we get
About Sirva.
- My corporate-relo paperwork references Sirva — same as Cartus?
- Different company, same general process. Sirva is headquartered in Illinois and serves a slightly different client mix than Cartus, but the household-goods cadence — authorization, carrier selection, inspection, written estimate, COI, FVP, inspection report, post-move reconciliation — is the same. We are on the Sirva carrier list for Texas-origin and Texas-destination moves.
- Does Sirva require a specific van line?
- Sirva owns and operates several van lines, so for many transferee files Sirva will route through a captive-fleet carrier. For files routed through independent carriers (which include Texas-origin and Texas-destination moves where we hold an agent relationship), we handle the full move directly. Your counselor will confirm carrier assignment.
- Does Sirva handle international moves?
- Yes — Sirva has an established global footprint and handles inbound and outbound international assignments. For oil-and-gas employees relocating from Texas to a foreign assignment (Mideast operations, North Sea, Latin America), Sirva-authorized international moves are a known lane. Talk to your Sirva counselor first for the international file structure.
