Pre-Move Walkthrough
Also known as: Move-day walkthrough, Pre-load walkthrough
Definition
A pre-move walkthrough is the inspection done by the crew lead and customer at the start of move day, confirming the inventory, condition of items and the home, scope of services, and any special requirements before loading begins.
In practice
What it means on a move.
Standard pre-move walkthrough: crew lead arrives at the home, customer walks every room with them, crew lead notes any pre-existing damage to the home (floor scratches, wall scuffs, ceiling stains), confirms inventory matches the estimate, confirms specialty items (pianos, gun safes, art) are flagged, confirms which boxes are first-load and which are top-load. This walkthrough is the foundation of move-day expectations. **Customers should participate fully** — it's the moment to ask any final questions before the work starts.
Stakes
Why this matters.
The pre-move walkthrough is where misunderstandings get resolved. Items not on the estimate get noted. Pre-existing damage gets documented (so the customer can't claim the crew caused it). Specialty handling requirements get confirmed. Skip this walkthrough and you risk surprises mid-move when the scope changes or items are damaged.
Our process
How Muscleman Elite handles it.
Muscleman Elite crew leads conduct a pre-move walkthrough on every job. Customer signs off on inventory + pre-existing condition before any loading begins. Photo documentation included for any damage notes.
