Photo / Video Estimate
Also known as: Virtual Estimate, Video Walk-Through, Remote Estimate, Photo Estimate
Definition
A Photo / Video Estimate is a written moving estimate prepared from customer-supplied photos, videos, or a live video walk-through — no in-home visit required — used to scope and price moves remotely.
In practice
What it means on a move.
The customer sends photos of each room, closet, garage, and any specialty items, or joins a live video call with the move planner to walk the home together on camera. The planner notes inventory, identifies specialty items (piano, gun safe, hot tub, oversized art), checks access (stairs, doorways, parking), and asks about anything unclear. A written estimate is delivered by email — same day for most jobs, within hours for straightforward ones. Photo/video estimates work well for studios, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments, most 3-bedroom homes, and almost any office move where the layout can be photographed.
Stakes
Why this matters.
Photo/video estimates remove the scheduling friction of an in-home visit and make it possible to lock in pricing the same day a customer reaches out. For renters, busy professionals, and out-of-town clients buying or leasing in Austin, the in-home visit is often the largest scheduling obstacle to getting a real quote. Photo/video estimates also expand the carrier’s ability to serve customers across the metro and Permian Basin without sending a planner on a half-day trip. The trade-off: accuracy depends on customer disclosure — anything not shown to the camera is not on the estimate.
Our process
How Muscleman Elite handles it.
Muscleman Elite offers photo and video estimates for most residential and office moves. Send photos of every room (and any specialty items) or join a 15-minute video call with our move planner. We deliver a written estimate by email the same day, with the rate, 2-hour minimum, 15-minute proration, and any specialty handling priced in. In-home walk-throughs remain available for large estates, complex commercial jobs, and any move where the customer prefers a site visit.
Questions we get
About Photo / Video Estimate.
- How accurate is a photo or video estimate?
- Very accurate when the customer shows every room, closet, garage, and specialty item. Inaccuracy comes from items not shown — the storage room that did not make the video, the heavy gun safe in the garage no one mentioned. Full disclosure makes the estimate hold on move day.
- Do I need to schedule an in-home visit?
- For most moves, no. Photo and video estimates are the default for studios, apartments, most homes, and most office moves. We still offer in-home walk-throughs for large estates, complex commercial jobs, or when the customer prefers a site visit.
- How long does a video estimate take?
- A live video walk-through usually takes 15-20 minutes for an apartment or smaller home, 30-45 minutes for a larger home with specialty items. A photo-only estimate takes as long as you need to send the photos; we deliver the written estimate the same day in most cases.
