Pflugerville grew differently from Cedar Park or Round Rock. When the SH 130 toll road opened up the east side, it brought big master-planned neighborhoods of 2,500 to 4,000 sqft production homes at prices the western suburbs left behind a decade ago. Most of the families we move into Pflugerville come from one of two places: inner Austin, where they've been priced out of the neighborhoods east of IH-35, or out of state, on a tech-corridor relocation. Here's what moving here actually involves once your dates are set.
Why People Keep Moving to Pflugerville
It mostly comes down to space for the money and an easy commute. SH 130 runs down the east side and lands at the FM 1825 / Pecan Street interchange, about a mile from most Pflugerville addresses, so you can reach the north Austin job centers without sitting on IH-35. Lake Pflugerville, the 180-acre city lake with a 3-mile trail, anchors a cluster of the newer neighborhoods on the east side. Stone Hill Town Center and Costco cover most of the weekly errands.
Which Pflugerville Neighborhoods Fit Which Moves
Falcon Pointe
Falcon Pointe is the biggest master plan on the east side. It has production homes from about 2,200 to 4,000 sqft, a community center, and a long trail network, and it isn't gated. The thing to know on move day is size. The neighborhood stretches more than a mile from end to end, so a crew sent to the wrong end loses about 20 minutes on every trip back around. We confirm your section and entry point on the booking call, not on move morning.
Avalon
Avalon is the newer master plan along Kelly Lane, with production homes of about 2,000 to 3,500 sqft and two amenity centers. It's still being built, and homes turn over quickly, so we're in Avalon often. Like Falcon Pointe it runs over a mile end to end, and the truck parks at your address, not at the amenity center.
Highland Park
Highland Park sits north of Pflugerville Parkway. It's an established 2000s neighborhood with homes of 2,500 to 3,800 sqft and mature trees. Watch for low limbs over the street when we plan where to park the truck.
Bohls Park and Old Town
The original town center and the older neighborhoods west of FM 685 have homes built from the 1980s through the 2000s on smaller lots. Truck access is usually easier here than in the eastside master plans.
Around Lake Pflugerville
Lakeside, Heatherwilde, and Park at Blackhawk surround the lake. We also work regularly in Sorento, Carmel Creek, Reserve at Westcreek, Springbrook, Northtown Park, Mountain Creek, Spring Trails, and the north part of Wells Branch.
Getting Around on Move Day
- SH 130 for long-haul trucks. If you're moving in from out of state, or from the north or south, SH 130 skips IH-35 entirely. We build the toll route into the trip plan.
- Pecan Street and FM 685 are the pinch points. The afternoon school release on FM 685 is the worst stretch of the day. If a crew is arriving or making a second trip, we aim for before 2:30 PM or after 4:30 PM.
- Weekend shopping traffic. Saturdays around Stone Hill Town Center back up from late morning through mid-afternoon. On weekend moves, we plan start times around that window.
HOAs, PODs, and New Construction
Pflugerville master plans are run by several different management companies. Goodwin & Co., Spectrum Association Management, RealManage, and FirstService Residential are the common ones. The pattern is similar across them: vendors work weekdays from 7 AM to dusk, weekends are allowed but quieter, and the HOA wants notice before a POD or dumpster lands on the driveway. Rules differ by section, so we check yours during planning.
If you're closing on a new build in Avalon or one of the newer Falcon Pointe phases, the builder may still be working through punch-list items at handoff. We can phase the move around the builder's schedule. That can mean staging furniture in the garage, or in the rooms that are ready, and coming back to finish placement once the punch list closes. If phasing adds time, your written estimate says so up front.
Schools and Timing
Pflugerville ISD covers most of town. A few pockets feed Round Rock ISD or Manor ISD, so check the attendance zone for your exact address before you sign a lease or a contract. The schools families ask us about most are Hendrickson High, Pflugerville High, Connally High, Weiss High, Cele Middle, Kelly Lane Middle, and Park Crest Middle.
Families with school-age kids usually aim for early June, mid-July, or the first two weeks of August. Those windows fill 6 to 8 weeks ahead, so book early if your dates are fixed. Moves during the school year work fine. We just plan arrivals around the afternoon release.
How Long a Pflugerville Move Takes
Local moves are billed hourly with a 2-hour minimum, then prorated in 15-minute increments. A 2,500 to 3,500 sqft production home in Falcon Pointe, Avalon, or Highland Park with normal access usually takes 6 to 9 crew hours with a 4-person crew. Stairs, long carries, or specialty items like a piano, gun safe, or hot tub add time. Your written estimate lists what drives the time before the truck rolls. If you're moving in from out of state, see our long-distance moving page for how pricing works on a cross-country move.
Before You Book
- Send photos of the home and any HOA or gate details for both addresses.
- Tell us your section, plus which end of Avalon or Falcon Pointe you're on.
- Mention any closing-date gap. On-truck or portable storage can bridge a few days or a few weeks.
- Decide whether you want packing for the whole house, part of it, or none.
